Katya Jones
Hello and welcome to my digital portfolio. My name is Katya Jones and I am a product designer living in Southern California. My experience ranges from designing medical devices that help with rehabilitating stroke patients, creating products to assist athletes and construction workers, designing consumer soft goods, and most recently I have been designing hiking/camping/outdoor backpacks and lifestyle backpacks for the outdoor industry.
My previous work experience has given me the opportunity to be a leader by working as a project manager while designing products. I have been able to hold design positions that include responsibilities such as; working with clients directly in order to create their desired product while also conducting consumer and user research to make sure the products were not only aesthetically pleasing but functional and easy for the user to interact with. I have been hands on engineering and creating quick samples and prototypes to show clients and manufacturing while also being in direct communication with manufacturing to create working samples all the way to the final production.
I have found it to be a positive experience being able to work in the outdoor product industry because I am able to combine my career and my hobbies. When I'm not working you can usually find me outside on a hike, on my bike, or learning how to surf.
